Statement of Work

We will meet with you and your staff for an initial exploratory consultation.

Following that interview we will draft a proposed Statement of Work (SOW), and review it with you.

The SOW will be revised, and after it is accepted we will begin work.

Non-disclosure agreements needed for HIPAA and other purposes will be put in place.

We will work with your staff and you to meet the timelines and milestones as laid out in the SOW.

Payment happens when you are fully satisfied with our services.

Getting Started with EHR

Do we do it now, or can it wait?

Most work like this usually can wait.  Currently there is some urgency in that Federal stimulus legislation provides for incentive payments of up to $44,000 for the adoption of EHR with meaningful use.  The problem is that if the only reason for doing is EHR is to collect the incentive money, it probably will not be worth it.

The big question each doctor should be asking is about patient expectations.  What do your patient’s expect to encounter?  Today’s 20 some-things were born between 1980 and 1990.  Most of them have had computer keyboards and cell phones in front of them since early childhood.  You have a young couple and they have a new baby.  How do you think it is going to hit them when they observe you making notes in a paper record.  If you have been the family doctor for some time, you may have an extensive paper record.  What do you think goes through their heads when you walk in the room with a paper record over an inch thick?

Patient’s may not tell you what they think of that paper record.  They may try to be polite and reassure you that the paper chart doesn’t matter.  The reality is that the patient is thinking some very uncharitable things.  If there is another doctor in the area who does not use paper records, and very soon there will be, you may lose that patient simply because they don’t want a doctor who works with paper records.

HIPAA Agreements

We understand your concerns around HIPAA compliance and we will start any conversation with signing your HIPAA forms, or providing our forms that have appropriate HIPAA compliance language.
